The smaller one of the two DA alliance party is the PD (Partidul Democrat = Democratic Party), to which also President Traian Băsescu had belonged until taking office. It has 48 seats in the 332-seat Chamber of Deputies. The symbol of the party is described in the statute, Art. 3.

"(1) Simbolul Partidului Democrat este trandafirul. El este inscriptionat pe sigla, drapelul si alte insemne oficiale ale partidului, in aranjamente grafice aprobate de Consiliul National de Coordonare, la propunerea Biroului Permanent National (BPN).
(2) Semnul electoral al partidului este trandafirul sub care se afla prescurtarea PD, ansamblul fiind incadrat intr-un patrat cu colturi rotunjite."

[my translation: Art. 3 (1) The Symbol of the Democratic party is the rose. This is used on the logo, the flag and on other official signs of the party, in a graphical arrangement approved by the National Council of Coordination, on proposal by the National Permanent Bureau.
(2) The electoral symbol of the party is the rose under which there is the abbreviation PD, together framed in a square with rounded corners.]

On the party website there is also another photograph of the blue flag with the white logo (as paper flag). It shows a rose and the party abbreviation "PD" in a rounded square. The flag shows this symbol (all inscriptions and outlines in white) on a blue field.
